Acknowledgement of Country
St. Patrick's School acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, the Koroitch-gundidj people of the Maar Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
A Prayer for First Eucharist Candidates
Jesus,
Through the Eucharist, we recognise you, we remember you and we become one with you.
In the coming weeks of preparation, we pray that these children also know you in the breaking of the bread and the sharing of the cup.
We pray that sharing at your table enables them to lead Eucharistic lives in which they work for unity and peace in our community and our world.
We ask God’s richest blessings on them as they journey with you.
Amen
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today our school, led by the Year 6 Wellbeing team, participated in the National Day of Action Against Bullying. The NDA theme for this year was 'growing connections'. This theme supported research findings that strong school community connections and social skills are protective factors in the prevention of bullying and help enable positive, help-seeking behaviours in students. The day involved our Year 6 wellbeing team leading a rotation of activities for all students including a treasure hunt, an art activity, cooperative play and the creation of a wellbeing display for our school.
Our Social Justice Team Leaders for Term 3 concluded their “Mission Mini Mart” today. Thank you to the families who supported the group by providing goods to sell and to all the children (and staff!) who supported the stall. The final amount raised is yet to be tallied up but it is in the vacinity of $400 which will go towards the work of the Catholic Missions.
This Sunday a group of our students are making their First Eucharist at the 9.00am parish mass. They have been doing a family based program to prepare for this important sacrament, which enables them to be full members of the Church. We wish them well and pray for them in their faith journey. We also thank Ms. McDonald for her coordination of this sacrament on a school and community level.
Next Thursday, August 24, we are celebrating Book Week by dressing up as a book character or something along the “Read, Grow, Inspire” theme. All students are invited to participate.
I hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy weekend,
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal
Book Week 2023 - Week 7
On Thursday, August 24 (Week 7) the staff and students at St Patricks will celebrate Book Week. Everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favourite story book character on this day. We will have a parade of all the amazing costumes at 9:05am in the Hall and then the students will return to their classrooms and participate in different Book Week activities. Visitors are most welcome to come along to the parade and then visit the students in their classrooms to see all of the Book Week action.

Student Voice - Senior Hooptime
by Beau Porter and Tighe Perry
This week, the senior area went to the ARC Stadium for a basketball competition called Hooptime.
We had four teams: Rookies, Future Stars, All Star Boys and All Star Girls.
We played against 7 different schools: Koroit and District, St Pats Port Fairy, Port Fairy Consolidated, Grasmere, Woolsthorpe and Hawkesdale.
The All Star Girls team won the finals and will go on to the next level.
The All Star Boys came runners up in the Grand Final against Port Fairy Consolidated.
The Future Stars team just missed the chance to get into the Semi-Finals and the Rookies team won 3 out of 5 of their games.
Everyone had a great day and the St. Patrick’s community would be proud of the teamwork and sportsmanship on display.
National Day of Action Against Bullying in Australia
Today our school celebrated the National Day of Action Against Bullying in Australia- also called Bullying No Way day. Our school participated in activities organised by the Year 6 Student Wellbeing leaders- Niamh, Grace, Ella, Allira, Elise, Esther and Addy.
These activities included a treasure hunt around the school hunting for anti-bullying messages and creating some displays for Wellbeing around the school.

School Fees
Each year our school receives approximately 85% of funding toward the overall cost of running our school for the year from the Federal and State Governments. Consequently, our school community is required to raise the remaining 15% each year to provide the tuition, programs and resources our children need to ensure the best education. This 15% is raised through School Fees, Student Levies, donations and fundraising.
Currently, for this period in time, we have a substantial amount of outstanding school fees, we understand that there is still half of the school year to go, however, if you could give this some thought it would be appreciated. If you have any outstanding school fees it would be appreciated if you could attend to these in the near future. If you have any questions please contact Bronie or Nick and be assured of respect and total confidentiality. No child will be restricted in accessing a quality Catholic Education at St Patrick’s because of prohibitive school fees.

retired; married or single; in same-sex relationships; and can own or rent their

nurturing home, and have room in their home to support a vulnerable child or
sibling group.
