Acknowledgement of Country
St. Patrick's School acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, the Koroitch-gundidj people of the Maar Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Principal's Message
Dear parents and carers,
3 Way Conferences - 29th and 30th September
We are preparing to conduct 3 Way Conferences with Students, Teachers and Parents on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th of September. Last year we made a change from traditional parent-teacher interviews in response to discussions at a staff level and Community Conversation feedback. The 3-way conversations received excellent feedback from all involved and the process will continue this year. 3 Way Conferences involve children sharing samples of work (student and teacher chosen). These can be from their portfolios/workbooks or online. These conferences involve the student, teacher and parent. The students, under teacher supervision, are responsible for leading the conference and sharing their educational journey with their parents and teacher.
Bookings are now available through PAM.
Book Week
It was amazing to see our school students and staff dressed up in their favourite character for book week yesterday. The day was a great celebration of everything that is wonderful about literature and books. Thank you to Mrs. Dwyer for making sure our classrooms this week have had access to the shortlisted books for their learning and teaching activities. My favourite has been There’s No Such Book by Jessica Dettmann.
First Eucharist
Congratulations to the students who celebrated their First Eucharist last Sunday. Thank you to Fr. John Fitzgerald for celebrating the sacrament and Ms. Tegan McDonald for her coordination of the program at school.
Congratulations to Dominic McEachern, Isla Dobson, Mazie Fechete, Sadie Langdon, Phoenix Lane, Ava Monnier, Aria Toki, Josephine Foard and Uche Wakefield.
Good Luck
This weekend, we have students and former students representing Koroit Football Netball Club in the 13 & Under Reserve Netball Final and the Under 16 Football Final, mentored by St Pat's parents Kate and Damian Dobson (you know which Kate!). If you are looking for some quality sporting entertainment, head along to the Reid Oval on Sunday - the netball game starts at 11am and the football at 2pm. We with the best of luck to both teams.
End of Year Arrangements
Below this message I drawa you attention to a letter from from the Warrnambool and District Catholic Schools Network regarding changes to end of year dates and the reasoning behind this change. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal
End of Year Arrangements 2023
Please see below a letter from the Warrnambool and District Catholic Schools Network regarding changes to end of year dates and the reasoning behind this change.
Farewell Daisy and Dash
Today we say goodbye to Daisy and Dash, the calves who have been our friends for the past 10 school weeks. Rearing the calves, for this period of time, has been a team effort. This program would not be possible without the support of students, parents, carers and friends of the school who helped with feeding during weekends and holidays. Special thanks to Sarah and Aaron Bidmade for providing Daisy and Dash and to Daryl and Leah Brown for their expert calf rearing advice.
Book Week 2023
Read Grow Inspire
It was wonderful to see so many creative costumes yesterday for our Book Week parade. Thanks to our parents and carers who support us in preparing students for this day.
School Closure Days
Please note that there are two school closure days coming up on Thursday August 31st and Friday September 1st. Staff members will be off site on these days working on RE and Literacy planning.
School Fees
Each year our school receives approximately 85% of funding toward the overall cost of running our school for the year from the Federal and State Governments. Consequently, our school community is required to raise the remaining 15% each year to provide the tuition, programs and resources our children need to ensure the best education. This 15% is raised through School Fees, Student Levies, donations and fundraising.
Currently, for this period in time, we have a substantial amount of outstanding school fees, we understand that there is still half of the school year to go, however, if you could give this some thought it would be appreciated. If you have any outstanding school fees it would be appreciated if you could attend to these in the near future. If you have any questions please contact Bronie or Nick and be assured of respect and total confidentiality. No child will be restricted in accessing a quality Catholic Education at St Patrick’s because of prohibitive school fees.
Concussion
If your child has experienced concussion, it is important that you follow recommended medical advice. Returning to school can be a graduated approach with the aim of increasing tolerance to a full day, the same situation could occur with sport. It is always important to check with your doctor and seek medical treatment after a child sustains a concussion.
It is important to inform the school if your child has sustained a concussion outside of the school setting so we can monitor for ongoing symptoms and adapt activities if required.
This factsheet link below from the Royal Children’s Hospital is valuable to read and understand.

There is also a great evidence-based app from the Murdoch children’s research institute that walks you through what to do in the result of a concussion.

Harvey Porter for being a responsible learner. Harvey, we are very impressed with how much effort you put into every classroom task. Instead you really think about what you are doing and why you are doing it and you give your best effort. Keep up the great work.
Phoenix Lane for being a great friend. Phoenix, we love to see how you include other students in games in the playground and you don’t like to see others upset. You try to keep games going smoothly and you play fairly. Well done.
Room 7
Benji Holscher for being a persistent and resilient learner, working through tasks, asking questions and achieving success. You have completed work in Maths and English that you should feel proud of Benji, well done.
