Picnic in the Paddock
Please see the letter and information package sent home yesterday with important information about Picnic in the Paddock, including ride wrist bands and the cake stall.
Also, please remember to return your raffle tickets to the school office.
Thanks for your support - we can't wait to see everyone there for lots of fun on Sunday 29th.
Star of the Sea South West Coast - Employment Opportunities
Please find below an ad for the Parish Secretary and Admin positions.
Our Parish Secretary for the past 13 years, Leanne McElgunn, has advised of her intending retirement on Friday 24th November.
This position will need to be filled and the Parish seeks interest from either experienced and/or qualified individuals. Interested individuals may call into the Parish office at St. Joseph’s Warrnambool to collect a role description or call 5562 2231 for further information.
This is a role of about 32 hours per week (9.00am - 4.00pm) with award wages but this could be negotiable.
There is also a part-time administrative position as well. The work load has increased for our administrative staff due to our larger Parish. The latter position would be a 0.4 or 0.5 position.
Fr John Fitzgerald
For further details, please contact the Parish Office on (03) 5562 2231.
Developmental Language Disorder
Today is Developmental Language Disorder Day. Bec Free, our visiting speech therapist, has provided the following link and interesting facts about Developmental Language Disorder to help raise awareness.
https://radld.org/dld-awarenes
Developmental Language Disorder is a hidden but common disability that
affects 1 in 14 people causing difficulties understanding and using
language for no known reason. On average 2 students in every class of
30 have a neurodevelopmental condition called Developmental Language
Disorder or DLD. The 2023 DLDday theme is DLD Around the World,
highlighting that DLD occurs in every language.
What is Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day?
Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day, now in its fifth year,
is celebrated annually around the world with more than 40 countries
involved in 2022.
Families, teachers, therapists and the community come together to
ensure people with DLD no longer feel invisible.
– In 2020, DLD awareness videos posted on the RADLD Youtube channel
were viewed 36,400 times.
– 83 buildings and monuments around the world lit up in purple & yellow for DLD.
– DLD research fact memes were viewed 1.2 million times!
Wannon Water - National Water Week Poster Competition
