Acknowledgement of Country

St. Patrick's School acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, the Koroitch-gundidj people of the Maar Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,

Picnic in the Paddock

Preparations have certainly ramped up this week for Picnic in the Paddock this weekend, Sunday October 29th. 11am-3pm.

We would absolutely love it if as many people as possible from our school community could come along and support the day. As you may remember from last year, the event differs from a traditional school fair in that families are asked to come and participate in the day, rather than run a stall. As you have seen in many newsletters there will be something for everyone on the day. Don't forget to pre-purchase your rides wristbands for children. Also, the cake stall would love it if families could provide something as per the information sent home last week. Thanks to the Picnic in the Paddock team for all their hard work so far.

Next week’s events

Next week there is no swimming on Thursday 2/11 because there is A LOT going on!

Next Thursday’s events are:

3/4 Winter Sports at Garden’s oval Port Fairy

F-2 Extended Day

Year 2 Sleepover

Year 5 Emmanuel experience excursion

I look forward to seeing lots of you on Sunday,

Regards,

Nick Murrell

Principal

Picnic in the Paddock

Thanks for your support - we can't wait to see everyone there for lots of fun on Sunday 29th.

Star of the Sea South West Coast - Employment Opportunities

Please find below an ad for the Parish Secretary and Admin positions.

Our Parish Secretary for the past 13 years, Leanne McElgunn, has advised of her intending retirement on Friday 24th November.

This position will need to be filled and the Parish seeks interest from either experienced and/or qualified individuals.  Interested individuals may call into the Parish office at St. Joseph’s Warrnambool to collect a role description or call 5562 2231 for further information.

This is a role of about 32 hours per week  (9.00am - 4.00pm) with award wages but this could be negotiable.

There is also a part-time administrative position as well. The work load has increased for our administrative staff due to our larger Parish. The latter position would be a 0.4 or 0.5 position.

Fr John Fitzgerald

For further details, please contact the Parish Office on (03) 5562 2231.

Road Safety

The speed indicator sign which has been on Anzac Ave recently is a very prominent reminder of how easy it is to sneak over 40km/hr in a school zone!  Slowing down by a few kilometers/hour in the school zone as you arrive and depart from school in the mornings and afternoons will not make a great difference to your arrival time at your final destination.  Not doing so could have a disasterous impact on pedestrians.

Students should be reminded to cross Anzac Ave at the supervised crossing point in the afternoons and, for those who park on Queen St, we encourage parents to either park on the school side of the street or accompany their children across the road.

There are also a number of student who ride bikes or scooters to school - they should all be wearing helmets and obeying road rules.

Lost Property

Are you missing any uniform items? There are particularly a lot of jumpers in our Lost Property basket (or overflowing from it!).

If you could please remember also to label your uniform items so your uniforms don't end up here!

Overdue Library Books

Please remember to take a look at home for any overdue library books and return them to school.  Thanks.

School Fees/Volunteer Levy

Current Statements have been sent home this week.  If you have assisted with an event but are yet to claim a deduction to your Volunteer Levy, please see the office to complete a form.  Volunteer Levy deductions for 2023 must be recieved by the last week in Novemeber.

For those with. outstanding account balances, we would appreciate if you could please make arrangements at your earliest convenience.  If you are having difficulty with your account, do not hesitate to speak confidentially with me to discuss payment options.

Nick Murrell
