Principal's Message
Dear parents and carers,
Picnic in the Paddock
Last Sunday our school held the now annual Picnic in the Paddock for the second time. The event was an amazing success with estimations of up to 2500 in attendance throughout the day. The weather was incredibly kind and all those who were able to attend had sensational feedback about the experiences, food and stalls on offer. I would like to thank the Picnic in the Paddock committee for their great deal of work in organising the day and in particular event coordinator Amy Atwell. The feedback received by the organisers and school has been nothing short of amazing. It was such a fantastic event with something for everyone in our school and wider community. Sensational!
Learning Walk - Structured Literacy - PLEASE COME ALONG!
Next week families and friends of St Pat's are invited to join us for a Learning Walk on Friday November 10th at 9am. The focus will be on Structured Literacy and what this learning looks like in the classroom. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to come and engage with the learning and find out what it looks like. Please see the flier and RSVP link for more details. Register your attendance here https://shorturl.at/BCIJN
Grade 2 Sleepover / Extended school Day
Yesterday was a fantastic experience for our F, 1 and 2 students with their extended school day and for the Year 2s a sleepover at school! There were many fun activities, yummy food and some new experiences to try. Thanks to our junior teachers for their planning and especially to Mrs Swarbrick and Jennifer Quill for sleeping over with our Year 2s.
Year 5 Fishing rods
All Year 5 students will next week receive a fishing rod and pack from Victorian Fisheries, supported by the Victorian Government. The State Government is keen to get more children outside and active, connecting with nature and enjoying time in the great outdoors. Fishing is a great way to do that, which is why the State Government is investing $96m to improve fishing, boating, piers and aquaculture. Lucky Year 5s!
Regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal

Remembrance Day - Poppy Appeal
We have Poppy Appeal merchandise available in the office and being taken to classrooms each day. Prices range from $2 to $10.
Star of the Sea South West Coast - Employment Opportunities
Please find below an ad for the Parish Secretary and Admin positions.
Our Parish Secretary for the past 13 years, Leanne McElgunn, has advised of her intending retirement on Friday 24th November.
This position will need to be filled and the Parish seeks interest from either experienced and/or qualified individuals. Interested individuals may call into the Parish office at St. Joseph’s Warrnambool to collect a role description or call 5562 2231 for further information.
This is a role of about 32 hours per week (9.00am - 4.00pm) with award wages but this could be negotiable.
There is also a part-time administrative position as well. The work load has increased for our administrative staff due to our larger Parish. The latter position would be a 0.4 or 0.5 position.
Fr John Fitzgerald
For further details, please contact the Parish Office on (03) 5562 2231.
Triathlon Training
Bikes (in good condition) and helmets are required at school on Tuesday for the Bike Ed component of Triathlon Training for Grades 2-6. They will be used again on Wednesday during the PE lesson so can be left at school on Tuesday night.
Room 4, 5 and 7 will be using the bikes at different times so if you wish to share with a sibling or friend in a different classroom, this is fine. Bikes will not be used outside the school grounds during these sessions.
Students in Grade 3-6 will be invited to participate in the Individual or Team "Try"-athlon which will be held in Port Fairy on Tuesday 14th November at Belfast Aquatics and in the Russell Clarke Reserve area..
Please see the attached information for a Bike Safety Check and Helmet fitting guide.
Beginner Guitar Lessons
From Term 1 next year, beginner guitar lessons will be offered here at school. Please see below for information and register your interest with Dylan.
CWA Donation
Many thanks to the Koroit CWA who recently made a donation which was used to purchase extra foam blocks for our Zen Den. Past teacher, Denise Walsh attended to present the cheque.
If anyone is interest in joining the Koroit branch of the CWA, they meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. More details can be found on their Facebook page.
Western District Food Share
Our school is fortunate to receive a regular donation of fruit and snacks from Western District Food Share which is utilised if students forget food from home or are still hungry after finishing the contents of their lunchbox.
We appreciate this donation and encourage families to give back to Food Share if they are in a position to do so, particularly as we lead up to the busy holiday season.
Road Safety
The speed indicator sign which has been on Anzac Ave recently is a very prominent reminder of how easy it is to sneak over 40km/hr in a school zone! Slowing down by a few kilometers/hour in the school zone as you arrive and depart from school in the mornings and afternoons will not make a great difference to your arrival time at your final destination. Not doing so could have a disasterous impact on pedestrians.
Students should be reminded to cross Anzac Ave at the supervised crossing point in the afternoons and, for those who park on Queen St, we encourage parents to either park on the school side of the street or accompany their children across the road.
There are also a number of student who ride bikes or scooters to school - they should all be wearing helmets and obeying road rules.
Sports News
Congratulations to Jaxon Leishmann who competed at the Victorian Athletics on Wednesday of this week. He ran an amazing 10th out of 16 finalists being the fastest grade 6 boys in the state. He even ran it in a personal best time! What a superstar you are Jaxon and such a dedicated person to training. Well done.
We also had the Grade 5/6 Cricketers playing on Monday and Grade 3/4 at the rescheduled Winter Sports (teaming up with Woolsthorpe for Football) on Thursday for lots of active fun!
