Acknowledgement of Country

St. Patrick's School acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, the Koroitch-gundidj people of the Maar Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a very busy week and yesterday was a good opportunity to stop, reflect and take a moment. Thank you to our school leaders and other students who attended the local ANZAC Day service at the Koroit War Memorial. Everyone in attendance was respectful and represented our school with pride. Our whole school attended an ANZAC remembrance service on Wednesday afternoon. We gathered around our Lone Pine tree and students lay wreaths that they made. Thankyou Ms Lumsden, for organising this lovely service.

This respectfulness was also on display earlier in the week, when students from years 4-6 attended the Moyne District Athletics.  I heard the competition was fierce and our students participated with outstanding sportsmanship and a positive attitude.  Thankyou Mrs Swarbrick for the work that goes into organising our participation in these sporting events.

Today, our whole school enjoyed a performance of Irish dance and song as part of the Koroit Irish Festival.  Thank you to all families who have helped prepare our school’s float for the parade at 12pm tomorrow.  We are hoping to have as many students as possible to participate in the parade.  We ask students attending to gather near Duke’s Hotel at 11:30am. Students can be collected after the parade in the block between Mickey Bourke’s and Daly’s IGA.

Attached to this newsletter is information about our upcoming Learn and Explore mornings and information session for 2025 enrolments. Please share this information with families in our community as these sessions are a great way to see the amazing learning opportunities our students are engaged in.  We welcome school tours, please make an appointment through the office. If you have a child who will be in Foundation in 2025, and are yet to enrol, please drop into the office for an enrolment package.

Kind regards,

Shona Louden

Assistant Principal

School TV - Wellbeing Resources

Explaining Traumatic Events

In the wake of the tragic event in Bondi in this last week, we thought it important to share this video on "Explaining Traumatic Events to Young Children and Teens" with families.  While the event referred to in the video is in Las Vegas, the content is relevant to children here in Australia at this time.

In addition, BTN have a good article on upsetting news.

The team at School TV have advised that they will be sharing a Special Report in response to this early next week.

ANZAC Day

On Wednesday, we had an ANZAC Day service around our Lone Pine tree in the school yard. Each class made a wreath remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Following the service, the students enjoyed a traditional ANZAC biscuit which had been baked by Viriginia and Kate.

Moyne District Sports

A great day out at the Moyne Sports for our representatives on Tuesday.  Qualifying students will be attending the District Sports.

Changes to Maths Reporting

Please see the below letter with important information regarding changes to Maths Reporting.

Koroit Irish Festival Parade

Thank you to our school P&F volunteers for their contributions so far in preparing for the KIF coming up. This is a huge undertaking and is one of the main fundraisers for the school each year. Our school will again be participating in the procession, if your child would like to join in, please complete this very short survey below to let us know. The more the merrier! Our theme is farm theme again this year. Students can (if they choose to) come dressed as a farmer or farm animal OR in the school sports uniform.  Students are required to have a ticket to participate. These are free with adult tickets. The school will purchase children's tickets for those who would like to participate and whose parents are not attending the festival. The procession is 12-12.30 pm. Students will be required to arrive at Duke’s Hotel at 11.30 am. You will be able to collect your child/ren opposite Mickey Bourkes when the procession has finished. Please let a staff member know when collecting your child/ren.

Koroit Irish Festival

Thanks to those who have already volunteered with our stall at the Irish Festival, we are set to go! Hoping the weather is great and there are lots of hungry patrons.

Swing past the stall for a delicious baked spud with all the toppings - it's a filling lunch and great value at just $12.  Kids might like a Cheese Toastie from the food van for $5 or a Zooper Dooper for $1.

Mothers Day/Special Person Breakfast

Mothers, Grandmothers and special people are all welcome to attend the breakfast, along with your St Pat's students and younger family members.  Orders can be placed via CDF Pay.

If you have any disco lights that you would be happy to loan for the night, please contact Mel on  0419752980

Casserole Bank

The St Pat's community has a wonderful tradition of the "Casserole Bank" where families come together to provide a meal or snacks/lunchbox items for families within our school who are in need of support (for example, a new arrival, family illness or bereavement).

This year, the Casserole Bank will be coordinated through the school office.  If you are aware of a family requiring support, please contact the office.

If you are willing to help out during the year, please register your name details on the google form below & we will reach out when the need arises.  The more volunteers we have, the fewer times people will be called upon to help out.
