Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 2. I hope that you and your family had a pleasant, prayerful and enjoyable Easter with family and friends. Our students have returned to school energised and ready to go for this term! Term 1 was most certainly a jam-packed term and our students and families earned their two-week break from school.
Term 2 Teaching and Learning
Early next week you will receive a Term 2 Learning and Teaching update from your child’s classroom teacher. The purpose of this communication is to inform families of the learning topics that will be taking place in Term 2, so you can engage with your children at home in a more meaningful and topical way. The letters will include information about English, Maths, RE and Inquiry learning topics as well as some helpful reminders about routine and special events in Term 2.
Irish Festival
Next weekend is the Koroit Irish Festival. It is fantastic to welcome this community event considering the lack of opportunity our community (and others) had to gather in 2020. Our school will be contributing to the festival by participating in the parade and playing a key role in catering at the festival. The theme for the parade links to inspirational Irish women and our students will be ‘walking’ with St Brigid, St Monnina and St Abigail who will be in the form of cut-outs created by some of our students and Mrs. Schlooz. If your child is able to participate in the parade please fill in the form below. We are still looking for more interested families to support the cake stall in particular, if you are able to contribute to this please refer to the cake stall information in this newsletter. This support would be greatly appreciated, and it does not have to be a cake!
SWPBS
This week I have included SWPBS information about how we are respectful, responsible and safe when we arrive and depart school. It has been great to see students greeting each other and adults each morning when they arrive at school. Well done.
Congratulations to all students for a successful first week back.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell

PEACE LOVE RESPECT AWARD:
Chloe Gleeson
For being very encouraging and inclusive during basketball. Chloe has been making sure everyone has a fair share of the ball and is being praised when they achieve success in the game.
Room 3
Harry Atwell for the responsible and respectful way he interacts with his peers and teachers every day. He is polite, well mannered and super kind. Harry is always mindful of others and will always lend a helping hand when needed. You are an absolute star Harry!
Oliver Van Kempen for the responsible way he settled back into the school term after the holidays. Oliver has completed all set tasks to the best of his ability this week and has offered help to those around him. Keep up the good work Oliver!
Room 4
Jehtt Van Kempen for being a responsible student in class this week. Jehtt has completed all literacy tasks quickly and to a wonderful standard. His handwriting is becoming very neat, he has thought up the most words on our spelling focus and has completed all reading group activities very well. Jehtt is responsible for charging all our computers each afternoon too. Congratulations Jehtt, keep up the great work!
Carter Quarrell for being a safe, respectful and a responsible student. She is a fantastic friend to all in room 4, ensuring everyone is safe and happy. Carter is respectful of those around her and often helps others without being asked which shows her very kind nature. Carter is also very responsible both inside the classroom completing her work, and outside the classroom looking after her friends. Congratulations Carter, keep up the great work!
Room 5
Hayden Van Rysingen- For working very hard on his Maths and Literacy throughout the week. Hayden has given his personal best and had some fantastic results in his Holiday Recount and Speed Maths.
Ellie Dobson- For helping others do their personal best in reading. Ellie has worked very hard this week but also taken the time to make sure others can do their best.
Room 7
Ace Bidmade for connecting so respectfully with ANZAC information shared this week. Ace wrote a very insightful letter on behalf of a young soldier before fighting had begun. This showed a lot of concentration and empathy towards others.
Lincoln Arthur: for his consistent efforts to contribute to classroom knowledge. Lincoln’s responsible contributions to class about symbols that are rich in our lives and empathy for those who make an effort in our world are invaluable to our learning.
Hall
Bree Holscher and Jasmine Phillips - For completing excellent Maths results in this week’s work on decimals and measurement.

Irish Festival Parade
We are hoping to put together 3 groups of students for the Irish Festival Parade next weekend. The Parade is on Saturday 1/5/21 at midday and runs for approximately 30 minutes. Students would need to arrive at approximately 11.30 am. We will provide all the finer details closer to the weekend to those who are able to participate. Please complete the attached google form if your child can be part of the parade.
Please be aware that, due to COVID protocols, students require a ticket (tickets are free for children) to be part of the parade and would require a parent to come along also. Please see the further information regarding ticketing in this newsletter and a previous SZAPP notification.
ANZAC Day
This Sunday is ANZAC Day. Students this week have been learning about the significance of ANZAC Day and what it means to our country. On Thursday in Hands-on Learning a group of students discussed our school's contribution and recognition of this day and decided to gather materials and create a wreath for our school to lay at the Koroit War Memorial this weekend. The wreath was made from materials collected from the school grounds including rosemary, gum leaves and other native plants.
Congratulations Miss Louden
Congratulations to Miss Louden who has completed a Master of Education degree (with High Distinction) from the University of South Australia, in addition to her double Bachelor's degree. Well Done Shona!!

Mother's Day themed assembly
On Friday the 7th of May at 2.30pm we are holding a Mother's Day themed assembly. This assembly is supported by the Parents and Friends. We encourage any special women in our students' lives who are available at this time to come along and be celebrated for the amazing people that you are.
Dad's Catch Up:
Date to be advised, happening this Term.
Catering:
During the holidays the Catering Team catered for a family gathering. Many thanks to Leah Brown, Mary Gleeson, Kim Hedger, Tammy Langdon, Kate Dobson (Ellie), Becc Sanderson, Tracey Crispe and Kellie Cozens. The feedback was that the food was amazing. All provided goods can be claimed
from the volunteer levy. It's never too late to be involved.

Term 2 sees our canteen in full swing, items will be available for purchase in the coming weeks.
Thank you,
St Pat's Parents and Friends.
Canteen Roster Term 2
Canteen EOI
Thank you to Chloe Harlock for taking on the Canteen Coordinator for our school this year. This year we are planning to recommence selling items from the canteen window one lunchtime per week. We are exploring the possibility of this being a Wednesday. This would allow our students another 'special' day in the week, apart from lunch order Friday. However, with this idea comes the need for more volunteers and on two days throughout the week. In order to determine if this concept is worthwhile pursuing, can you please list your name, using the form below, if you would be willing and able to help on a Wednesday canteen roster selling items to the students. The shift would be approximately 1.20 pm - 2 pm on a Wednesday. Thanks for your consideration.
