2021, Term 2, Week 2 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Community Conversation
On Monday evening our School Advisory Council, school leaders and parents participated in our second Community Conversation facilitated by Mr. Tony Dalton. The evening continued on from the conservation in Term 1 and was a very productive, informative and worthwhile discussion for the benefit of our school community. The purpose of the conversation and workshop activities was to converse about how we can best support our school in maintaining and growing our enrolments to ensure we can offer the best possible learning experiences, programs and outcomes for our students. The process was continued on Wednesday afternoon at our school staff meeting and we will be holding a final conversation at a later date to give more parents the opportunity to participate. If this is something you would like to be part of please contact me to express your interest. If any parent or carer would like to know more about this process, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am happy to explain the process and discussions so far.
Learning Walk
I am strongly encouraging any parent available to come and join us for our next learning walk on Tuesday 4th May at 9.30am. These walks are an opportunity to come and engage with the learning that is happening in the classrooms and get a feel for the activities that allow your children to learn. Every parent that has attended so far has found the experience very valuable. Please see the link below to book your spot.
Irish Festival
This weekend is the Koroit and District Irish Festival. I thank the amazing work done so for by the Parents and Friends Irish Festival Team. The amount of work going on behind the scenes is incredible, it is amazing the time and effort people are willing to put in to support the students of our school. We are truly blessed to have such a willing and able parent group. I wish all organisers, coordinators and volunteers contributing to our Irish Festival fundraising efforts the best of luck this weekend. Thank you.
ANZAC Day School Leaders
Thank you to the four school leaders that represented our school on ANZAC Day at the Koroit War Memorial. Our students laid a wreath created by our school’s Hands on Learning team. Our school leaders represented our school with responsibility and respect, two of our SWPBS core values. Please see some images of our school leaders laying the wreath below.
Building Project Update
You may have noticed that our building works have come to a stop. Our project is experiencing another delay, this time due to a timber shortage in the building sector. The demand for timber is currently outweighing supply levels. This is mainly due to the increase in residential building projects on the back of State Government buildings grants. I will continue to keep our community informed of developments where they are made aware to the school.
SWPBS - Sports Shed
This week I have shared our SWPBS behaviours for the Sports Shed. Our students use the sports shed every day to collect and return equipment as well as for Hands on Learning each Thursday. The senior students who facilitate the lending of sports equipment at recess and lunchtimes have been doing a tremendous job.
Have a fantastic Irish Festival Weekend,
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell

Term 2 Canteen Roster
Wednesday Canteen - Expression of Interest
Thank you to Chloe Harlock for taking on the Canteen Coordinator for our school this year. This year we are planning to recommence selling items from the canteen window one lunchtime per week. We are exploring the possibility of this being a Wednesday. This would allow our students another 'special' day in the week, apart from lunch order Friday. However, with this idea comes the need for more volunteers and on two days throughout the week. In order to determine if this concept is worthwhile pursuing, can you please list your name, using the form below, if you would be willing and able to help on a Wednesday canteen roster selling items to the students. The shift would be approximately 1.20 pm - 2 pm on a Wednesday. Thanks for your consideration.
