Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was wonderful to see families engaging in student learning during the 3 way conferences on Monday and Wednesday. Students truly enjoyed showcasing their work and achievements. Thank you for your support!
“When schools, families, and communities work together, children are more likely to succeed in school and in life” Joyce Epstein
What an incredible day at the HeapsArt pop up shop yesterday! Congratulations to the students who created the wonderful art and a big thank you to Anna Schlooz for organising the pop up shop. The event showcased the spirit of our community and the dedication of everyone involved.
The shop was a fantastic display of the HeapsART Everyday program at St Pat’s. The students’ artwork on everyday items raised funds for Vinnies, supporting families facing homelessness. This event embodied the Catholic social teaching principle of solidarity, emphasising our responsibility to support and uplift those in need.
The event finished with a delicious sausage sizzle lunch for all students. A special thank you to Maddison Kelly for generously volunteering her time to cook the sausages on the BBQ!
Coming up:
Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th - Year 3/4 camp, Kangaroobie
Friday 30th August - Fathers Day Breakfast
Friday 30th August - final Little Learners session
Have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend
Kind regards,
Tegan McDonald
Principal
Book Week - Reading is Magic
What a great day on Monday celebrating books and reading with our annual Book Week Parade. Thanks to parents and students for the effort that goes in to the costumes to make this such a fun and colourful day.
HeapsART Everyday - Pop Up Shop
This term, we have been lucky enough to have Mrs Schlooz back again to work with a new group of students in the HeapsART Everyday program. The program studios are based on the understanding that Art allows for a unique, personal expression, encouraging young people to communicate their inner world in ways beyond words. Encouraging young people to practise art regularly may enhance self-awareness and promote a deeper understanding of one's emotions and experiences.
This term’s program invited the participating students to co-organise a pop up shop within the school. This involved the students to create artwork on everyday life items to raise funds for an organisation of their choosing. Therefore transferring an awareness of their own needs to an awareness of the needs and desires of others.
The issue of Homelessness was raised - particularly of families and Vinnies was the organisation that was known to the students.
A sausage sizzle lunch created an opportunity for families to reflect on a basic survival need such as food to be provided for their children whilst supporting a pop up shop for fundraising for people experiencing homelessness.
Many thanks to Mrs Schlooz for her enthusiasm in working with and supporting our students and to Maddison Kelly for coming along to cook the BBQ for the students.
Religious Education - Father's Day Liturgy
The Father's Day Liturgy will take place in the Church on Friday 30th August, following the Father's Day Breakfast. All welcome.
Sports Report
Senior Hooptime
On the 16th of August the Grade 5/6 students represented our school in Hooptime at the Warrnambool Basketball Stadium and both teams were very successful.
The All Star Girls team won all of their games and their grand final against Woodford quite comfortably. The Future Stars Mixed team had a nail biting Grand Final against Grassmere, winning by 2 points.
We would like to thank our superstar Coaches, Tammy Langdon and Mrs O'Connor and our scorers, Jennifer and Scott Quill and also for the mixed team Carina Lane.
Well done Grade 5/6 students!
Regional Hooptime
Regional Hooptime will be held in Hamilton:
Junior 3/4 All Star Girls - Monday 21st October
Senior 5/6 All Star Girls & Future Stars - Monday 28th October
School TV - Wellbeing Resources
When the mornings are cold, it can be even harder to get reluctant kids to school - see the attached article from School TV in with some pointers to help with School Refusal.
There are resources available for a range of topics through the School TV website. You can access it by clicking the above link and use the search function to find the topic you are looking for. There is also a School TV link under the "Parents and Community".

NCCD Parent Information Sheet
Over the coming weeks at St Patrick's classroom teachers are holding Program Support (PSG) Meetings for students who are a part of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) count in August of each year. If your child is a part of these meetings I will have contacted you via email or phone.
I have attached a parent information sheet below for you to read about this process.

Traffic Management - School Drop Off and Pick Up
Could all parents please encourage their children to cross the road at the safest points at school drop off and pick up times.
Anzac Ave - cross at the flags at the corner.
Queen St - cross at the corner or in front of reception where there are no cars parked.
We know parking is at a premium at these busy times - parents are welcome to use the parking spaces at the Church where no on street parking is available.
STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK:
STOP one step back from the kerb, or shoulder of the road if there is no footpath.
LOOK in all directions for approaching traffic.
LISTEN in all directions for approaching traffic.
THINK about whether it is safe to cross the road – when the road is clear or all traffic has stopped. When crossing, walk straight across the road. Keep LOOKING and LISTENING for traffic while crossing.~ Kidsafe Victoria (www.kidsafevic.com.au/road-safety/pedestrian-safety)

Volunteer Levy
There are many opportunities at school to claim off your volunteer levy.
As you would imagine, there are lots of jobs that need to be done at a school. Between classroom responsibilites and duties during most breaks, there are many things that staff don't get the opportunity to do. In times gone by, some of these would be done at working bees. In recent years, we have not had great success in attracting families to working bees as times do not always suit.
If you see a job that needs to be done, that you are happy to take on, we would love your help and can arrange for the credit to your volunteer levy.
Some suggestions - Canteen deep clean, library tidying, lost property sorting. This list is just a start.
Casserole Bank
The St Pat's community has a wonderful tradition of the "Casserole Bank" where families come together to provide a meal or snacks/lunchbox items for families within our school who are in need of support (for example, a new arrival, family illness or bereavement).
This year, the Casserole Bank will be coordinated through the school office. If you are aware of a family requiring support, please contact the office.
If you are willing to help out during the year, please register your name details on the google form below & we will reach out when the need arises. The more volunteers we have, the fewer times people will be called upon to help out.
Canteen & Cake Raffle Rosters
Thanks to those who have already signed up for the Canteen & Cake Raffle Rosters. We now have a new Canteen Sign Up Sheet available for Term 3. We appreciate everyone's help with Canteen - without your assistance, it can not run.
Virginia Martin co-ordinates the canteen, arranging for the stocking of snack items and is happy to take questions from prospective volunteers - 0419 883 657.
