Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Prayer for Lent
Loving God,
Help us to work together
to share what we have
so that everyone has what they need.
Help us to build a better world
where each of us can become the best person we can be.
Amen
This week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday was observed by our whole school attending mass at Infant Jesus Koroit.
Lent is a special time of the year when we reflect on our baptismal promises and think about how we are living out Jesus' mission in our home, school and community. It is a time when we are invited to become better people. The season of Lent is a time in which we reflect on how we can have a change of heart. We reflect on this in special ways: by prayer, by fasting and by giving to others.

Students of the Week
Room 1 & 2
Olympia Jordan for always being respectful, responsible and safe. You are a fantastic role model for your peers, always following instructions, doing the 6 L’s and lending a helping hand when needed. You are a star Olympia!
Tilly Van Rysingen for being a respectful and responsible reader during reading groups this week. It was great to see you following along with your finger, having a go at sounding out new words and helping others when they needed a hand! Keep up the great work Tilly!
Room 4
Poppy Martin- for being responsible in her commitment to being the best learner she can be this term. Poppy is keen to learn, develop new skills and knowledge, then show others what she knows particularly with her writing. Keep up the great work Poppy.
Sadie Lagdon- for the respectful and responsible way she has participated in classroom activities this week. Sadie has been an enthusiastic learner working hard on set tasks, particularly improving her writing by adding detail and interesting adjectives. Well done Sadie and keep up the great work!
Room 5
Zoe Dobson for the effort that she is putting into using joined writing correctly. This shows that you are a responsible learner. Well done Zoe, your writing is getting neater every time I see it.
Tai Hedger for taking on the responsibility of being a school leader. Tai, I appreciate the effort that you put into your speech and I see you have some great ideas for our school.
Room 7
Charlotte Lilley for the respectful way she listens in class, speaks to her classmates and participates in school activities. Charlotte, you are always encouraging and positive and you show a positive mindset each day by putting a great effort into every task. Thank you.
Dominic McEachern for the responsible way he is approaching his work tasks. Dominic, thank you for listening well to achieve your best. You have shown an excellent positive growth mindset, and I have been very impressed with how you are challenging yourself in your learning, especially in Maths. Keep up the great approach and effort!
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to Ava Monnier who is celebrating her Birthday today.
School Closure Days - Semester 1
Please see below a list of school closure days for the remainder of Semester 1, 2022. These days are a combination of Staff Professional Development days and Public Holidays. We are providing these dates with as much forewarning as possible as we understand the staff professional development days, in particular, have an impact on families. There is one staff professional development day in Term 1 and two in Term 2. As a school, we chose not to take an allocated closure day in Term 4 2021, as we felt the 2021 school year had already been disrupted enough with remote learning and we were aiming to maximise learning days onsite at school. This is a flow-on effect from this.
Monday 14th March - Labour Day Public Holiday
Friday - 1st April - Staff Professional Development
Monday 25th April - ANZAC Day Public Holiday
Thursday 5th May - May Race Day Public Holiday
Friday 20th May - Staff Professional Development
Monday 13th June - Queen's Birthday Public Holiday
Tuesday 14th June - Staff Professional Development
Project Compassion 2022
As it is Lent, St Patrick’s School is participating in Project Compassion. Project Compassion is organised by Caritas Australia and it is where first-world countries, like us here in Australia, donate money to second and third-world countries to help fund clean water, education, fresh food. Each class has a Project Compassion box to put donations and spare change in. There is also one in the main office and Church foyer. These donations are used to help the world’s poor in order to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
Thank you,
Zoe Dobson, Arli Langdon, Tai Hedger and Annabelle Foster

The start of a new school year is also a good time to review the profiles of existing students - please take a moment to check your child's Medical Profile in PAM and update if necessary.
