2022, Term2, Week 8 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to this week's newsletter. This week has been a very busy one, filled with some amazing events. Thanks to everyone who made it such a successful and enjoyable week on various fronts.
School Sports
Teamwork, Encouragement, Friendship and Fun were quite prominent themes at our Athletics sports day today. The day was an amazing event that was the culmination of a great deal of planning from Mrs. Swarbrick and Mr. Varley. It was extremely pleasing to see students working together as teams and encouraging others. Witnessing the determination and persistence our students displayed as they tried to run their fastest, jump their longest or highest or throw their farthest was inspiring as staff and parents. The Olympic motto of “Citius, Altius, Fortius” (Latin for "faster, higher, stronger") was most definitely lived out on the day, and possibly, one day, there will one day be some Olympic representatives from our talented crop of participants! Also noted on the day was the incredible work of our volunteers, these parents and friends of St Pats ensured each event ran smoothly and safely, thank you.
St Patrick’s Day
St Patrick’s day was a sensational celebration of our patron saint with a reverent liturgy, delicious morning tea of green cupcakes and an outstanding display of talent at Green Faces! To see our students’ courage and creativity on display through their performances was a pleasure to watch. Congratulations to everyone who had the bravery to get up, show a vulnerable side and entertain us with their efforts. Special mention to the winning act from Olivia and Annabelle Foster! Thanks to Ms Tegan McDonald for organising and coordinating her first sensational St Patrick’s Day in Koroit.
Folk Festival BBQ
Last weekend I was lucky enough to be part of an amazing event, the St Pat's BBQ, at the Port Fairy Folk Festival. This was an incredibly organised and well-run event that was extremely popular with the patrons, with its reputation preceding itself. The teamwork and atmosphere from the volunteers was energetic and fun for all involved and for a great cause, our school and our students. I would like to thank all volunteers who contributed in any capacity to ensure this fundraising event was continued success in 2022. Even though I don’t want to see or cook another egg for a very long time! Well done and thank you to all, much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal

St Patrick's Day Celebrations
Thank you to everyone in our school community who helped to make St Patrick’s Day a wonderful, fun and successful day. We started the day welcoming a ‘sea of green’ with students and staff dressing up to celebrate our saint! We then came together and enjoyed a whole school mass to celebrate the Patron Saint of our school and commissioning of our Student Leaders. Upon our return to school, students enjoyed a host of fun St Patrick themed activities and games planned by each teacher. Some of the activities students participated in were St Patrick’s Day bingo, learning traditional Irish dance, shamrock craft, some traditional Irish games and a St Patrick super kahoot quiz! It was lovely to see each student in our school being safe, respectful and responsible during this time. The reports from each teacher were nothing short of amazing! Well done to all of our students!
Finally, the day ended with our traditional ‘Green Faces’ talent show in the hall. It was lovely to welcome back parents this year! Each performance and act entertained and delighted the audience members. It was clear a lot of hard work and practise went into the preparation of these acts, well done to all! Congratulations to our winners - Annabelle and Olivia Foster for their performance ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’. They scored a whopping 29.5 out of 30 for their hilarious and well rehearsed act! Thanks to our judges Celina Brown, Kelly Jones and Ella Lewis and to Mr Murrell for being our host for the afternoon!
A big thank you to the Parents & Friends Ash Porter, Kim Hedger, Emma Arthur, Kate Foster and Kate Dobson for your hard work and outstanding baking skills, making some yummy green themed cupcakes to share with us all!
Check out some of our photos from the day!
