Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter.
Prayer during Lent
Lord God,
May I stand in solidarity today with all my brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering.
May we be united in your love, and may I work to build your kingdom here on earth.

Easter Liturgy
On Friday 8th April, the last day of Term 1, we are holding our St Patrick’s Easter Liturgy in the hall at 9.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will also draw the Easter raffle at the conclusion of the Liturgy.
As this is our last day of term, school will conclude at 2.30pm.
Harmony Day Thursday 31st March
What a delight it was to witness the celebration of community and culture at St Patrick’s during our Harmony Day whole school event on Thursday. Everyone came together to celebrate the diversity of our school community and enjoyed a fun day which included morning tea ‘harmony joys’, a whole school assembly, some fun rotations and a sausage sizzle for lunch! Please see some photos of the day! A big thank you to Mrs Anna Schlooz for organising such a lovely event for us all, Kate Dobson for making the ‘harmony joys’ for morning tea and to all staff for their creative activities and help with cooking the BBQ!
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell

School Crossing
Crossing at the designated school crossing with the flags
To ensure the safety of our students we are reminding families about school pick-up procedures.
All students being picked up on the Convent side (West side) of Anzac Ave are to cross at the school crossing area of the Anzac Ave / Queen Street intersection (see below images).
No students are to cross Anzac Ave at any other place.
Parents are welcome to park on Queen Street and enter via the playground. This works particularly well for the junior students in rooms 1 and 2.
As a school we provide a staff member at this crossing point and teach students how this process works, however, we need parent support with this too.
You can do this by:
- Actively supervising your children at all times at pick up / drop off times.
- Not encouraging students to cross Anzac Ave at any place other than the school crossing.
- Getting out of your car and either walking your child up the crossing to cross or walking up and waiting at the designated crossing area.
- Not crossing Anzac Ave as adults, other than the designated crossing.
Thank you for your support.
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to Mazie Fechete who is celebrating her Birthday at this time.

Moyne Athletics Sports
Moyne Athletics
Congratulations to our 32 athletes who competed in Warrnambool on Wednesday at the Moyne District Athletics carnival. Individual results will be in next week’s newsletter. However, the team relays were a great success and our school came equal first placing in the Greg Fitzgibbon shield. This is an exceptional result against many larger schools. Well done to all our students who ran in these relays and to all our students who ran, jumped and threw their best in their events on the day. We are very proud of your efforts! Many in turn will qualify for the Warrnambool, Portland and Hamilton sports to be held on Friday May 5th. For this day to be successful many people helped. Hence, I would like to thank Kate Dobson (Ellie) and Jennifer Quill for the extra lunch times put in coaching the relay teams. A BIG thank you to Tammy Langdon and her band of willing parents who helped in the canteen for the day and the many parents who donated food to be sold. The canteen was a great success with many happy students and adults buying such a variety of different foods. All were very pleased and everything was sold. Finally, it was terrific to have many of our past students and their friends helping teachers run events and helping students in the events. Thank you to all these students who have helped on our sports day and at the Moyne carnival.

Folk Festival Thanks
Congratulations to all volunteers on another successful Folk Festival BBQ.
Over the week leading up to and over the long weekend we had 37 volunteers just from our school spare their time to help with the countless hours needed for site set-up, food prep, working on the BBQ and site pack-up.
To put in perspective the amount of food and work that goes into the weekend, on Friday morning our food prep team cut 140kg of onions with some interesting attire worn at times to combat the onions fumes, 90kg of tomatoes and 90 lettuces. In the tent 1750 hamburgers, 120kg sausages and 200kg of bacon were cooked and 3000 eggs cracked mainly between 8am – 10:30am and countless hours spent by all volunteers working to make this all possible.
I would like to sincerely thank you all for your time and help because without you none of it would have been possible.
I would also like to make a special thanks to Mick McGoldrick who always goes above and beyond with help, advise and muscle when needed, Tammy Langdon for her expertise with coordinating everyone for the Friday food prep and also a huge thanks to Nick Murrell for all your help and support through the planning and meetings, I couldn’t have done it without you all.
Once again thanks and looking forward to the 2023 Folkie.
