Acknowledgement of Country

St. Patrick's School acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, the Koroitch-gundidj people of the Maar Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome

Welcome to Term 4. This week has been an amazing start to the term with all students returning ready to learn and calmly going about their learning and play. Well done students.

Regional Athletics

Today we had 9 students representing our school at the Regional Athletics in Ballarat. The beginning of the day was marred by torrential rain for the 1500m runners but ended up being a very good day. Myra Quill made it through to the next stage in the 200m, coming 1st and in the 100 m coming 2nd! Our girls' relay team came 3rd, a great team effort!! Will Foster came 3rd in the 800m and 6th in 1500m. Jaxon Leishman came 6th in 1500m and 4th in 800m. Esther Gleeson came 8th in the 800m and 5th in the 1500m. Ellie Dobson came 6th in 800m, and Benji Holscher finished midfield with a jump of 7.40 m. Zoe Dobson competed in the triple jump. WOW! What amazing results and representation of our school at the Regional level, a truly amazing effort and achievement to all participants.

SWPBS Minors and Majors Flowchart

At St Patrick’s we use a School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework for creating a positive and safe learning environment for our students. With SWPBS, we define, teach and support behaviours that create a positive school environment. Our three underpinning values at St Patrick’s are - Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe.

Part of our SWPBS framework is Minors and Majors, it is an important accountability system. At home, you may have heard your children using the terms "minor" and "major". The purpose of sharing this flowchart (see below) is to help parents and carers understand further this process and why it exists. The purpose of our Minors and Majors is to create a safe environment for all at St Patrick's. It is important to remember that this is just one aspect of SWPBS. The social behaviours listed in the flowchart are used to correct and support students when needed.

If parents or carers would like any of this information clarified further please contact Nick Murrell.

Kind regards,

Nick Murrell

Hats and Mosquitoes!

HATS

All students are required to be wearing a hat during recess, lunch and outdoor activities at school this term. Students have had a week's grace this week and next week is the beginning of No Hat, No Play! Please ensure your child/ren has their hat on Monday. Hats are available to purchase through CDF Pay.

MOSQUITOES

We currently have a LARGE number of mosquitoes in our playground. Students this week have experienced many mosquito bites during break times. Not a pleasant experience at all. Can parents/carers please provide students with a roll-on insect repellant to keep in their school bags throughout this period of mosquitoes in PLAGUE proportion. Teachers will encourage students to apply this before break times and other outdoor sessions.

Fairy Tale Christmas performance

This year, students will be performing in a school production, ‘Fairytale Christmas,’ on Thursday 8th of December in the school hall.

The concert starts at 6pm, students need to arrive at 5:45pm to be seated and ready for the show.

Proposed Timetable (see image below)

At the end of the concert, family BBQ and picnic to follow. Any questions or assistance with costuming please contact me,

Kind regards,

Regina Cassidy
