Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Picnic in the Paddock
Last Sunday our school held the inaugural Picnic in the Paddock. The event was an amazing success with estimations of up to 2500 in attendance throughout the day. The weather was incredibly kind and all those who were able to attend had sensational feedback about the experiences, food and stalls on offer. I would like to thank the Picnic in the Paddock committee for their great deal of work in organising the day and in particular event coordinator Amy Atwell. Please see link below for some feedback from our junior students.
100 Lone Pines Program
This week on Thursday we received a Lone Pine Tree as part of the 100 Lone Pines Program. The objective of this project is to commemorate the ANZAC spirit and to celebrate the Centenary of the Republic of Turkey. Friends of Gallipoli Inc., a not-for-profit organisation which has the objective of enhancing ties between Australians and Turks, are coordinating the Project. This is an exciting opportunity for St Patrick’s. I invite families to come to school and have a look at our new addition to the school yard.
Socktober
Thank you to all who came dressed on their crazy socks on Monday! The day was a celebration and an important learning and fundraising experience, for and about, those who are less fortunate than us during mission month. Our students raised $150.55 that will go towards funding a goat rearing centre in Ethiopia which will have a multifaceted impact on the local community.
Lions Eye Testing
This week our school was lucky enough to have the Lions Eye Health team visit our school for the second time this year. The team conducted Free Vision Screening for our stduents. Members of the Lions club have been specifically trained to perform 4 vision screening assessments including:
1. Visual Acuity - using a Lea 3m -15 line Symbol Chart
2. Colour Vision - using a Quick 6 - Basic Colour Screening Book
3. Depth Perception - using a Stereo Fly Screening Tool
4. Spot Vision Screener - State of the art portable machine designed to screen for Myopia (near sightedness), Hyperopia (far sightedness), Astigmatism (blurred vision), Anisometropia (unequal refractive power), Strabismus (eye misalignment) and Anisocoria (unequal pupil size).
This is an incredible service and we can't thank Lions for provising this to ur school. We are already organising a date to continue program next year.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell

BUSHFIRE & GRASSFIRE INFORMATION
Our school is on the "Grassfire At Risk Register".
With the implementation of a new national Fire Danger Rating (FDR) system, all schools on the "Bushfire and Grassfire At Risk Registers" will be closed on days classified as Catastrophic FDR.
What does this mean? On a Catastrophic FDR, the school will be closed, along with school bus services. No one will be allowed on site. Such ratings will be declared ahead of the nominated day and we will advise families via the usual channels (SZApp, Class Dojo, e-mail).
Note: A Catastrophic FDR is different to a Day of Total Fire Ban.
Additional Information about the Australian Fire Danger Rating system is reproduced here for your information.
