Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
On Wednesday we held our annual School Sports day. It was absolutely sensational to see so many parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and special friends back at a school event. Thank you to all those who came along and supported your special child. It was a day where all of our students demonstrated courage, determination, fairness and encouragement to themselves and their peers. All of our students should be congratulated on this amazing effort. Special thanks to all our volunteers on the day, it is impossible to run such a successful event without support from volunteers. All of our volunteers contributed to the event in a way that was supportive, instructional and positive, from the school, I say THANK YOU. Thanks also go to Mrs. Swarbrick for her coordination of the event, Mr Peter Varley for his continued support to the athletics program at St Pat's and also to Mr Templeton and Declan Gleeson for pack up and set up assistance. Special thanks also to our student helpers from Emmanuel College.
SWPBS
This week’s SWPBS focus is on Office and Transitions. This area includes the school office and the areas we move through when transitioning between classes. 'Transitioning' can be walking to the library, moving between specialist classes or moving to and from the bathroom. One focus in the office area is to use a greeting when seeing Bronie or Julie, prior to asking your question or passing on information. Please see the image below for the Office and Transitions SWPBS poster.
Hands On Learning Program
Our Hands On Learning program has recently got underway with a small group of students and has the opportunity to expand as the program gains traction. This week our Hands On Learning members began to create their special area in the school shed. This involved preparing the site, using a stencil to label some signage and mounting the baseboard for all the tools! This program will be an excellent opportunity for some of our St Pat’s students to engage with learning in a variety of ways. We thank Mr Lloyd for his coordination of the program and also Koroit local, Leon Carey, for his support to the school and program as well. See below for some pictures of the program.
I will conclude this week's message with a Litany for Lent, as we continue on our Lenten journey.
A Litany for Lent
Lent can be more than a time for fasting
It can also be a joyous time of feasting.
A season when we can:
Fast from emphasis on our differences but ... feast on the unity of all life
We can fast from words that pollute but ... feast on words that cleanse
We can fast from anger but ... feast on patience
We can fast from worry but ... feast on trust
We can fast from hostility but ... feast on friendliness
We can fast from discouragement but ... feast on hope
May Lent be a time of reflection ...
Let us look within ourselves
... and change what needs to be changed ...
Adapted from 'Lent & Easter - Wisdom' (Henry Nouwen)
Enjoy a great long weekend.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell

Sports Day Results
Results for the day were Red house won with 496 points, second Blue House with 450 and Green third with 418. The one tunnel ball relay results were taken off as no other tunnel ball relays were completed. Unfortunately not enough time to run those.
A list of qualified students for the Moyne sports is still to come, students can check notice board next week.
Thank you to parents, grandparents, guardians and friends who came along to support and help. The sports couldn't run without this support and the terrific support from the Emmanuel students.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Sports Day Action!

Congratulations to Cruz Perry, Jasmine Phillips and Milla Gleeson for winning their way through to representing our school and the Moyne district today at the WHP tennis divisional championships held at Warrnambool’s lawn courts. We will include today’s tennis results in next weeks newsletter.
Beginning of the Year Picnic
Next Thursday, 11 March, 5.30 - 7.30 pm is our rescheduled beginning of the year picnic. All families are most welcome to come along and bring a picnic tea to have at school. There will be some fun activities for children and adults to participate in on the night. Come along for the whole 2 hours, stay for a shorter time if that suits or if you can't do tea maybe just drop in and say hello. Either way, we'd love to see as many families as possible come along to celebrate the event, albeit if it is getting a little later in the term! The early weather forecast is looking great, fingers crossed.
